· HEART has started a Web Poll for employees. We will try to get your feedback each month by posting questions and multiple choice answers/selections on a poll. This month’s poll is directed towards finding out what sort of fundraiser the majority is interested in.  You can find this questionnaire on the newly revised HEART website. Check us out!

· HEART is hosting the American Red Cross on March 23, 2010 for our next scheduled blood drive. We will need help manning the blood drive canteen, and we will need volunteers to bring food/drinks. Please contact a member of HEART if you are interested in helping out.

· Congratulations to Deb Trippel who won the Spirit of Hospice Award in December 2009.  Deb was nominated by five co-workers who thought she deserved the award that identifies staff members who go above and beyond the call of duty for their patients and families. Here is just one of the nominations provided on Deb’s behalf. Congratulations Deb!

Deb is a team player.  She always goes out of her way to help out her fellow employees and our patients.  Deb is always flexible when there is an emergency or crisis.  I was recently at a death with Deb and the comfort she gave to the family was remarkable.  She showed such compassion towards the family and the patient.  This death was a very difficult for everyone, especially since there were young children in the home.  Deb took the youngest child under her wing and helped make the child's thoughts and feelings valid.  Deb really kept a cool head and warm heart during this difficult time.  Deb is truly an asset to the Galax office.  We are very lucky to have her!

It’s “Your Turn” Woltz Hospice Home!

Members of HEART split into two groups to visit the Woltz Hospice Home on Thursday, January 28 and Friday, January 29 in an effort to reach the most people on different shifts.

HEART wants to have a presence and make a difference in each office. Each month we are visiting an office to meet with staff, ask questions, and to hear comments and suggestions. If you have a suggestion prior to our visit, please use the virtual suggestion box on our webpage.

In February, we will visit Yadkinville. This is your opportunity to voice your opinions, needs, wishes, wants or anything else we as your advocacy team can help with. Please plan to stay for a little while. We’ll feed you snackage or a light lunch to carry with you. In turn, you can feed us your input. It can be as a group or individual sessions - you choose!
