SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin

The SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin is the newest project from Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care. Scheduled to open in 2017, it will be the first full-service hospice facility in Yadkin County. In addition to serving Yadkin residents, the SECU Hospice Care Center will also assist patients residing in Wilkes, Davie and Western Forsyth Counties. 

The 10,000 square foot facility will feature six patient suites with private baths and enclosed outdoor patios. Other features include a chapel, a family living room, a kitchen with dining area, a kids' playroom, a teen room, a community meeting room with a covered patio, a sunroom, covered porches, and a beautiful courtyard with a view of Pilot Mountain.

In Yadkin County, about 35 percent of terminally-ill patients use hospice services. Without a hospice home, many of those patients must turn to hospitals or nursing homes for end-of-life care. Some of them attempt admission into hospice inpatient facilities outside the county—as much as an hour away—but since such facilities often have long waiting lists, the patients die without the extensive support of a hospice interdisciplinary team.

The SECU Hospice Care Center will fill a great need in our community. However, Mountain Valley Hospice needs your help to make it a reality. The initial cost estimate for the land acquisition, construction, and furnishing altogether is $3.5 million.

Hence, Mountain Valley Hospice has launched the "Imagine a Home" capital campaign to raise $3.5 million. Already, the campaign has raised $2 million, thanks largely to the State Employees' Credit Union Foundation's donation of $1 million in June 2015.
