Mountain Valley Voices Sounds of Home Cover Art

The Mountain Valley Voices choir was formed in 2007 when about a dozen employees of Mountain Valley Hospice came together to sing carols at their annual Christmas party. The response was so overwhelming that hospice chaplain Vladimir Strejeck and Family Services director Sally Estes organized the choir into an ongoing performing group. Fonda Younger, a bereavement and spiritual support assistant, was named as Choir Leader.

As Mountain Valley Hospice grew, its employees began to serve more patients and, as a result, became unavailable for the choir. Hence, the choir began recruiting volunteers.

Today, Mountain Valley Voices features a core group of 30 volunteers from northwest North Carolina and Southwest Virginia, who regularly sing to hospice patients and their families. They also perform gospel and traditional favorites at assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospice homes, churches, and special venues. All concerts are free and offered as a public service to the communities served by Mountain Valley Hospice.

You can also purchase the Sounds of Home CD at any Mountain Valley Hospice location (see list here), including the Woltz Hospice Home and the Re-Sale Shoppe, or download it at one of the following (click icon to visit store):
