Yadkin Hospice Home Campaign Closing in on Goal to Qualify for $1 Million SECU Foundation Challenge Grant

(Yadkin County, NC) In December 2015, Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care had a  ground-breaking ceremony for  Yadkin County's first inpatient hospice facility. Now, just five months later, dirt is being moved and the $2.5 million dollars needed for construction of the new hospice home is in sight.

"We have raised 87 percent of our goal, leaving us less than three hundred and thirty thousand dollars away from our goal," said Denise Watson, Executive Director of Mountain Valley Hospice. "We hope to have all of the pledges in hand over the next few weeks, so we still need help from the community in order to get there."

"There are so many ways to give," said Jerry Carlton, Campaign Chair. "We will come to your home, office or service group to talk about our new hospice home and would be happy to accept donations there. You can also design a planned giving program, make a one-time donation or memorial, or host an event." For every $1.50 donated to the campaign, the State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) Foundation will match it with $1.00, up to $1 million. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Yadkin County. Where else can you get a 67 percent return on your investment?" said Carlton.

The new SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin will be located at North Lee Avenue on land adjacent to the State Employee's Credit Union campus in Yadkinville. It will offer a private, home-like setting, designed specifically to provide end-of-life care for patients who can no longer stay in their own home. The 11,000 square foot facility will feature six, 300 square foot patient suites with private baths and enclosed outdoor patios. The new hospice home will also feature a chapel, family living room, kitchen, dining area, a children's playroom, a teen room, community meeting room with covered patio, a sunroom, covered porches, and a beautiful courtyard with a view of Pilot Mountain.
