SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin Needs Volunteers
Volunteers are an integral part of any superior hospice program. We count on committed men, women and young adults to assist our staff in providing excellent end-of-life care in patient's homes, the Woltz Hospice Home, and the SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin. We are looking for volunteers to join us in making a difference in the lives of our patients. The list is endless for our volunteer needs at the SECU Hospice Home. If you have a love or passion for helping others, we have a job for you!
We need volunteers to provide support for patients and families during their stay by assisting at the reception desk, maintaining the family rooms and kitchen, preparing snacks and coffee, creating welcome bags, tending to the hospitality cart, preparing flower arrangements, gardening, assisting with sacred vigils, being a "feeding buddy," singing or playing instruments, preparing food, assisting with We Honor Veterans ceremonies, offering bereavement support, and much more! Training is informative, easy and FREE! Lunch, snacks and training materials are provided. Bilingual candidates, teens (15 to 18 years of age), and armed forces veterans are especially needed.
Call Sherry Milholand-Gibson, Volunteer Resources Coordinator, at 336-679-2466 to register for training. Volunteer training will be on Tuesday and Thursday, March 14 and 16, 9am to 5pm, at 320 West Maple Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Attendance both days is required along with a volunteer application, criminal background check, fingerprinting, TB and flu shots.
Please note: Volunteers do not perform any hands-on tasks such as bathing, changing beds, toileting, shaving, etc. Volunteers provide much-needed companionship and respite for patients and families, much like visiting a sick family member or a shut-in. A kind word in a time of stress can provide a ray of love to those in need.
