Handbag Event Huge Success!
Mount Airy, NC- Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care held its biannual "Handbags for Hospice" auction on July 18, with purses donated by a number of Hollywood celebrities, including: Elisabeth Moss and Jessica Pare' from "Mad Men"; former Miss America Lee Meriwether from "Barnaby Jones", "Batman" and "The Time Tunnel"; Nancy Stafford of "Matlock" fame; and Surry County's own Anna Wood, who starred in "Deception", and can be seen in the upcoming CBS drama "Reckless".
"The auction was a great success and we raised close to $4,000" said Sheila Jones, Director of Marketing for Mtn. Valley Hospice. " More important, all proceeds went to support our KidsPath program which helps children who are living with serious, progressive medical conditions. It also provides support for children experiencing grief associated with the illness or death of a loved one".
The goal of "KidsPath" is to enhance quality of life for these children (from infancy to age 18) as well as for those who share their lives. Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care is now the tenth member of the "Kids Path" Consortium in the Carolinas and Virginia.
