We are there where ever you are.

Wednesday March 29, 2017

Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, as part of the We Honor Veterans program, joins the nation in recognizing March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

To our Vietnam War veterans, we understand that upon your return from Vietnam, many of you were not welcomed home. In fact, many were received with derogatory comments, accusations, and hostility. We recognize that even veterans who were not deployed overseas had the same reception. We do not forget the great political turmoil and social unrest that marked that era. Unfortunately this seemed to fuel the outrage that was poured upon you. Some may have remembered the ticker tape parades that had welcomed home those from Europe or Asia after World War II. Then to find yourselves receiving the exact opposite upon your return. We bear the shame of an ungrateful nation during that time.

We wish we could personally extend our hand to each of you and sincerely welcome you home. But we do reach out to you with our hearts and minds. We want to sincerely welcome you home. We want to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for your sacrifice to our country, that you made during that time. We would also like to thank your families, for the sacrifice they were willing to endure. For those who did not return, we want to express our love and appreciation for their service as well. Though we cannot go back and change the events of history, we can hopefully all learn from them and be a stronger, more united country.

May we always reach out to our veterans with hearts of thanksgiving.
